Destination Highlights

Active Adventures

Take an overnight boat on the emerald waters of Halong Bay, dubbed the eighth natural wonder of the world. Kayak, swim and take in spectacular vistas all around you.

Spend some time in the capital, Hanoi. Wander the street markets of the Old Quarter, learn some history, taste the amazing food, and experience a city where old and new coexist.

Take a trip up the Mekong Delta. Drift along narrow canals, visit floating markets, go to idyllic Phu Quoc Island and witness every facet of Vietnamese life.

Culture

Vietnam has a long and multi layered cultural heritage, though many of its most famous monuments were very badly damaged during the Vietnam War. Still, one can see spectacular pagodas and temples throughout the country, as well as the very impressive mausoleums of the emperors near the city of Hue. Recent history is also fascinating, and one can visit the famous Cu Chi tunnels from the Vietnam War as well as many other evocative war related sights.

Food

Vietnamese food is an absolute delight. Ranging from the famous beef pho soup, to curries, and many kinds of grilled meat dishes, Vietnamese food is one of the most delicious in South East Asia. Vietnamese coffee is also delicious, with condensed milk replacing regular milk.

Nature

Vietnam has been described as a country with 17 shades of green, and it is as spectacularly beautiful as it sounds. Halong Bay is world famous for its incredible island dotted bay, while the beaches of the center and south are wonderful, and if you love adventure, exploring the mountains and cave systems is a world class experience.

Extend Your Trip

Cambodia is an obvious add-on to any Vietnam trip. Angkor Wat is a sight equal to the Taj Mahal or Machu Picchu, where you will feel like Indiana Jones exploring the jungle! Laos is another wonderful add-on, where the beautiful temple-filled riverside town of Luang Prabang is the star attraction!

Highlights

  • Take a spectacular luxury train from the north to the south.
  • Spend two nights on a luxury “junk” exploring Halong Bay or the emerald green Mekong Delta.
  • Take a hands-on private cooking class in wonderful Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Hike from village to village in the Sapa or Mai Chau regions, or take a multiday bike ride through the paddy fields and villages of the North.
  • Complete your Vietnam adventure with a side trip to either Angkor Wat in Cambodia or Luang Prabang in Laos.
