The last day in the desert was reserved for adventure.
We started by driving our 4×4’s deep into the desert, passing amazing rock formations and the odd camel along the way!
We did a fantastic short hike and then met our drivers for our dune bashing safari! Its absolutely exhilarating – driving straight up sand mountains at impossible angles and then sideways and down hills, this way and that, with sand everywhere and sheer laughs of joy! A real adventure!
Later, we headed to the Elephant Rock, where we met the local mounted police and then ended the day with a visit to a Bedouin encampment for traditional tea. The Bedouin also showed us rock engravings that apparently can be found throughout the desert region. The Saudi desert and its people are amazing!
