Hilit Nurick

This delicious tour has been hand crafted by Hilit Nurick. Hilit is a professionally-trained and certified pastry chef and founded The Dizzy Whisk cooking school for kids in Vancouver. Today, she runs a Foods/Culinary Program at a private high school in Vancouver. Sicily is one of Hilit’s favourite culinary destinations–and she can’t wait to share her passion with fellow Quivertree travelers.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Palermo and transfer to the hotel for overnight. Dinner is included.

Day 2
This morning you will meet a real Duchess! We will accompany her to the local fresh food market, and then continue to her palace where together we will prepare a traditional lunch. The Duchess will also give us a private tour of her palace home – a royal treat! Later, we will enjoy a guided tour of Palermo, a city with a history dating back well over two thousand years, and which has been inhabited by all the peoples of the Mediterranean, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Jews, Normans, and Spanish.

Day 3
Departing Palermo, our first stop is a tiny hilltop town, where we will have a pastry lesson at the most famous pastry shop in Sicily followed by lunch. Later we continue to our rural hotel where we will prepare a typical Sicilian dinner with a local Mama!

Day 4
Today we visit a local village. We will meet a shepherd, learn how ricotta is made and we will learn about local plants, seeds and oils. After lunch we will return to the hotel for some leisure time.

Dinner is included.

Day 5
This morning we will visit the world famous Valley of the Temples, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site with eight ancient Greek temples dating back 2500 years. Later, travel to Licata, a typical Sicilian town. After lunch at La Madia, a two star Michelin restaurant and one of Sicily’s best, we will visit a well-known chocolatier followed by a hands-on chocolate making class from a master in her private home. Continue to Siracusa for overnight. Free evening in beautiful Siracusa.

Day 6
Today visit one of the best food markets in
Sicily, followed by an amazing hands-on cooking
class and lunch with a local chef. Later, travel to
Noto and visit Caffe Sicilia for its world famous
granita (as seen on Chef’s Table on Netflix). Enjoy
dinner at a nearby fishing village. Overnight in
Siracusa.

Day 7
Day trip to Taormina. Morning visit to the cooking lab of Michelin star chef Pietro D’Agostino, followed by lunch at his restaurant La Capinera.

Afternoon visit to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Overnight in Siracusa. Farewell dinner included.

Day 8
Transfer to Catania airport and departure.

Meals: breakfast in all places, 4 dinners and 5 lunches (including two Michelin-starred restaurants). All meals are set menus.

4-star accommodation in all places.
