Namibia Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Windhoek. While relaxing at your hotel, your 4×4 will be delivered to you.

Day 2
The adventure begins! Today you’ll drive deep into the Namib desert, staying at a luxury camp near the famous Sossusvlei dunes.

Day 3
Early this morning head to the dunes. You can admire them from afar, or go for a challenging hike to the very top of Big Daddy! Later on, enjoy a guided desert exploration with an expert or go for a leisurely horseback ride.

Day 4
Travel to Swakopmund, with its German colonial buildings still very much intact. Stay in town or near a deserted beach.

Day 5
Enjoy a kayaking adventure with seals! Later, head north, arriving at a luxury camp deep in the stony desert.

Day 6
Head out on a guided exploration in search of specially adapted desert elephants. Enjoy another night in this fabulous environment.

Day 7
Continue your explorations. Arrive at a remote mountain camp.

Days 8 – 9
Enjoy a 2 day guided hike (glamping) into the stony mountains. Its very remote and you will feel incredibly far away from civilization. Overnight camping.

Days 10 – 11
Head to the Etosha region for a 2 night safari.

Day 12
Drive back to Windhoek after your incredible adventure!

What time of year is best to travel to Namibia?

April to November is ideal. Winters can be cold at night, while summers tend to be very hot.

Is Namibia a good place for a family destination?

Kids love Namibia. With its amazing wildlife, desert dunes, friendly people and great food, as well as being one of the safest African countries, Namibia is an ideal family destination.

Are luxury tours of Namibia expensive?

Yes, they can be, due to the great distances that need to be covered and the fact that luxury accommodations are far apart. But Namibia can also offer wonderful value if you choose to self drive.

What is there to do in Namibia?

Climb desert dunes, search for desert elephants and rhinos, go on safari, kayak with seals, and enjoy being in a remote country far away from the crowds.

What is the food like in Namibia?

This is a meat eating country, though fish is very commonplace as well. Try Biltong- a dried beef or game meat jerky that originates in South Africa but which Namibians have perfected. And with its German history, the local beer is outstanding.
