Specially designed for families ages 11 and up, the safari will be led by Lorne Sulcas, AKA, “The Big Cat Guy.” Quivertree’s founders have been closely following Lorne’s career over the past 30 years and have long identified him the best wildlife expert for guiding families on safari in Africa.

We are incredibly lucky to have Lorne guide this trip for Quivertree and we expect it to sell out fast!

East Africa offers the classic vistas of open savannah grasslands teeming with animals. This classic safari destination is ideal for a safari + beach combo vacation!

Best for families with children aged 8+: Tanzania, Kenya

Best time of year: All year round, and especially February (Tanzania wildebeest migration), August/September (migration).

Budget: Medium to high

Best to combine with: A visit to exotic Zanzibar for culture and the beach.

How does an East Africa safari differ from a Southern African safari?

Open savannah grasslands means that you can see animals from very far away. During the Great Migration, you can see tens, if not hundreds of thousands of animals gathered together. Hot air ballooning is a highlight. Semi permanent or temporary tented camps allow you to stay right in the middle of the National Parks – no fences! Offroading is not allowed.

The countries:

Tanzania: Home to the world famous Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Excellent for kids of all ages. Caters to medium to upper budget. Combines well with Zanzibar.

Kenya: Home to the wonderful Masai Mara and Samburu National Park. Excellent for kids of all ages. Caters to medium and upper budget. Combines well with Zanzibar.
